Robert, in a spirit of good will, my closing comment in this thread is:

In addition to asking for a thesis topic, you have restricted your
request to a narrow area. Michael Bryant has offered one, and I have
offered one.

I suspect that Michael's idea would require more travel and investment
than is practical for you, and I suspect that mine is not answerable and
has already been beaten to death anyway.
