Mark Charette responded to Kimber's assertion that "[STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN]IS
LED ZEPPELIN'S MOST FAVORITE SONG, AND A TIMELESS CLASSIC. ALL IT IS ABOUT
IS LIFE...AND IT CAN BE RELATED TO NO MATTER WHAT....AND IT HAS AN AMAZING
SOUND!!!!:

<<<I had to play that song in every rock gig I played for about as long as
you are old ...

Anything becomes hoirrid after a thousand requests ...>>>

Mark - did you get to double on the recorder bit, too, or play only bass?
(Thinking that you might have had a little variety in the monotony . . .)

A similar observation from last summer's ClarinetFest. A few of us went
into the French Quarter after one of the Orpheum concerts and caught a set
at Preservation Hall. A sign in front of the stage had a price list,
something like this:

REQUESTS

In the tradition . . . $2

Other songs . . . $5

Saints . . . $20

The details are probably wrong (two years ago, after all, and the data input
clouded by a Hurricane or two); but I distinctly remember a big price bump
for what obviously was *their* favorite song.
