Scott--

I will not offer any advice pertaining to the ligature, butthere are several
excellent school for graduate study in Canada.

In the west, University of British Columbia has an excellent music program.
In Ontario, both the University of Toronto and the University of Western
Ontario (London, Ontario) have excellent music programs. Further east,
McGill University in Montreal has an excellent music program.

I will assume that you have web web access, so I suggest that you review
their programs via the various univbersity web sites to get a basi feel for
what each school has to offer.

Subject: [kl] Question and Information

Hello Fellow Clarinetists;

This is sort of a two part email, so, here it goes;

Firstly, I recently purchased a BG Super Revelation ligature, and I was
wondering if there is a "break-in" period for the ligature to hold the reed
to
the mouthpiece tightly. I am asking this because when I tighten the
ligature
I can still move the reed with my fingers. So, am what I experiencing
normal
or is the ligature defective? (I have been using an inverted Bonade.)

Second, I'm looking for a Canadian Graduate School that offers a degree in
Clarinet Performance (mainly due to price; I cannot afford to go to
England/Scotland to study). I was wondering which are the best Canadian
Graduate Schools and who are the best teachers (I know that these are a
loaded
questions). I'm mainly interested in Chamber Music, Recitalist, Chamber
Orchestra study. You can contact me off the list if you wish.

Thanks
Scott A. MacDonald
