Many, many thanks to all colleagues for your great help in this matter.
After Bill Wright mentioned seeing the two stripes in a pair of lens`, I
asked another optician for their response about obtaining these from the US,
and they seem confident that we can go in this direction, so fingers crossed
for me. I have had a good innings with tri-focals, and I feel that moving to
two separate sets of specs would do untold damage to my ego, my confidence,
my appearance, my aptitude and attitude, my ability to say "Hi" to some
chick who might not be quite such a stunner as what I first thought, when
close up.
Thanks once more. I`ll let you all know when I can see again - - - - -
(thank the great architect up there, that I can see at all, however much
impaired.)

On the question of recommended clarinetttists, I would like to ask (at risk
of becoming a pain) any list members who are members of concert or
convention planning panels, to please consider inviting Martin Powell, the
English virtuoso. How wonderful it is to discover a "sleeping" talent such
as Martin`s. And I`m sure everyone will be only too delighted to help him on
his way to become a "major artiste" in the world of the clarinet. I`m sad
that I don`t have the where-with-all to market him properly - a venture
which would be a sure fire winner for someone else.

Talking of eyesight I`ll close with this tag line:-

I can`t see my music, but I can sure see Martin!

Best,
Tony W.
