Seiko DM-10's are something like $20. It's a a thin credit-card sized
metronome with the one basic function that a metronome needs: the ability
to set the number of beats per minute and hear a beep on each beat. The
DM-20 is a step up and allows you to subdivide the beat with different
pitched beeps.
An excellent value for a conventional quartz metronome is the Seiko SQ50.
It doesn't say SQ50 on the front of the unit. The unit is black plastic
with the old style circular dial for choosing the tempo. I think it costs
maybe $35 incl. tax. It has two "tick" sound options -- one that seems to
be meant to mimic a traditional wind-up piano metronome, the other more
piercing and audible. It also has the capability to emit two pitches for
tuning, i.e., a concert A and a concert Bb. It's a great little basic
metronome and I was happy to find such a good value. Runs on a 9-volt.
