Hej,
On the 27th of this month my girlfriend and I will be attending a
concert by Giora Feidman and I was wondering if anyone in the group has
ever attended any of his concerts.
Thanks,
Robert

Giora Feidman has undoubtedly been one of the greatest klezmer artists =
ever. Whenever there was a concertotour of his going on not too far =
away, I went to hear him. But regrettably in the 90's he changed more to =
kind of clown-on-clarinet. He has always used all possible kinds of =
effects that in klezmer music are used, and did so with good judgment. =
But around the midst (or slightly after) of the 90's of the past century =
he changed to playing more and more effects, also where he should not =
use them, I think. Hearing it was like hearing, say Lindner's "Music for =
a bird" that does nothing else but show acrobatics. It was disappointing =
to go to his concerts.
This spring he was in Utrecht again, this time playing with a symphony =
orchestra in a "classical" program. My wife and I decided to go to this =
concerto, hoping his "effectiveness" would be over. It was not, he still =
did use effects, but it was not as bad as it used to be the last years, =
we could live with it and in general really enjoyed the concerto.
I really do hope you and your girlfriend will enjoy the concerto.
