But the Bb clarinet is much more common. There would not be enough eefers
to cover the parts. The Eb soprano is also quite a bit more difficult to
play, especially in tune. The Bb clarinet makes a much more practical
solution. And that is not my idea; I just derive it from what arrangers
have actually done. No sense writing arrangements for groups of
instruments that do not exist!
