Hello all,

This may be more of a curiosity than a question. I have been a returnee fo=
r
about six months now, playing with our community concert band and a small
ensemble. I have always been able to tune with any group with little
adjustment and in college with a tuner I could "hit the needle" right on th=
e
dot.

Just for fun, I recently purchased a KORG CA-30 tuner to see how I was doin=
g
keeping my notes in tune.

The tuner has a calibration and I just assumed that I would tune when it wa=
s
set at 440 (the A @-----. In order for me to center the needle, however,
the tuner must be calibrated to 442. This the same for my two other
clarinets and probably extends to the groups I play in too as essentially I
use the same configuration.

Just for fun before I wrote this, I grabbed my wife=B9s Sweet Adeline pitch
pipe and it is as in tune as it gets when the calibration is at 440.

I guess the question, if there is one, is are we all really at A =3D 442?

Regards,
