Hello,
I have also experienced extreme pain in my arm and wrist. There was no nerve
damage when tested. It was really bad in college, about 10 years ago. I took
about 6 months off from seriously playing and it got better. I also worked
on a more comfortable angle to hold my clarinet, releiving tension, and
played clarinet with a neck strap for about 4 years.
Since then, I occasionally expeience the pain again - especially if I do
alot of doubling. (Clarinet, flute/ picc, sax). About 4 months ago, it
flared up bad and I had another test done - still no damage, no carpal
tunnel, just inflammation. I recommend seeking out a good doctor, preferably
one who is used to working with musicians. I also recommend yoga (with a
good instructor and after getting the OK from your doctor)
- it helps me to be more aware of my posture, movement, etc. and to stay
relaxed.

Best wishes,
Christine
