I have just caught up with my e-mail after a weekend offline. Well, what a
lot of dross on the Pastor and his signature tagline. Everyone else seems to
have had a say, so here goes me!
I don't particularly care for it: however, many people have signatures with
taglines and on various lists these can be very annoying, because they are
unconnected with the topic of the list. Personally, I find religious items the
worst,
but that's my non-preference.
I think that automatic signatures are the worst invention - they are only ever
appropriate for business e-mails, in my opinion (others will no doubt
disagree!) and I think it is totally wrong for them to be used on lists. They
are
especially annoying when a shooting blanks - not too difficult to do, as
someone
pointed out.
Please don't chuck the pastor (or others) off the list, just try to persuade
them to stop using their taglines where possible.
Please don't abandon the list just because you don't like somebody's tagline (I

don't like your excessive intolerance),
Just go with the flow, and delete anything you don't like. The only time I
really object to unsuitable e-mail traffic is when it is pushing illegal stuff
(porn, drugs, ...), but it is simple to delete or block.
One other thing, folks ... Please remember that if you change the topic when
replying to a posting, change the subject line to match - I think many people
delete e-mails unseen if the subject is one they are not interested in, so may
miss your new subject!
