What exactly is carpel tunnel syndrome ?

You *do* need to see a doctor, but to answer your specific question:

There is a 'tunnel' in your wrist through which tenons and nerves pass
in order to connect with your hand. If this tunnel becomes restricted
or inflamed, including by arthritis or by repetitive motion, then the
pain begins. There are many causes for arm and wrist pain, of course;
and this is why you need to see a doctor who knows how to distinguish
between the various causes.

There is a surgery to open up the carpal tunnels if appropriate, and
some individuals have more than one such surgery during their lives.

Cheers,
Bill
