Dan et al., do you know what a delete key is? Of course you do. Does your
ISP provide you the option of filtering out messages from certain people and
summarily deleting them? I would wager that it does. It wouldn't hurt to
find out. Is whining publicly and threatening to leave the list in a huff
another possible way to react to one's own offense at another person's be-
havior? Sure, but it's probably one of the least effective or productive
among possible responses.

Block the good pastor's address before it reaches your IN box, and you'll
never have to see his tagline or proselytizing messages again. I've done
this sort of thing during certain threads, particularly the stuff on the
physics of acoustics, eliminating 75% of the ego drivel by blocking John-
athan Cohler's email address for a couple of weeks. That was fun! Don't
run away from the problem. It seems folly to deny oneself the pleasure
and enrichment of the list by walking the other way, rather than simply
rendering invisible those people whose messages are of consistently neg-
ligible (or at least questionable) value to you. Heck, do it to *me* if
you don't like what I'm saying. The poetic beauty of it is that I'll
never know the difference, and you'll go on enjoying the list while be-
ing spared any further annoyance at my thoughts. Isn't that a better
way to go about it? Or is it simply not dramatic enough?

Neil
