I greatly prefer floating the pads in. That way you can get them exactly as you want them. Height, angle, etc. Makes for a much more positive "seat". If you just press them in using the adhesive, you're stuck with the fit.

BTW - I really like these pads a lot. I have them all over my personal Bb and my bass.
