Subj: [kl] modern effects

Since this week I have started to study Campogrande's "La voce delle =
nuovole che non ce sono piú". Really a wonderful piece for voice and =
claribass. I picked it from internet (but I could not tell you right now =
which page, I think a search for Campogrande will help).

This piece poses some technical problems to me with respect to modern =
effects. It requires multiphonics -- but Paolo de Gaspari gave me some =
fingerings. I still do not produce the right sounds, but I'll come back =
to that later on. The problem that worries me most right now is how to =
make "slap tongue". Does it make a difference, which note has been =
prescribed, or will it suffice to simply make it with the fingering for =
the prescribed note?

I would be very thankful if anyone on this list could help me with the =
technique of producing the "slap tongue" effect.

Another question:

When I play my claribass I often have problems in producing "high" notes =
that I produce effortless on my soprano. It relates particularly to the =
notes above f-2. Often these notes when I blow them, come out an octave =
or an octave and a fifth too high. (In Campogrande there are places =
where this effect is required, but I want to have control of it =
myselves). Of course that is my fault, I have it regardless of whether I =
use a Selmer mouthpiece, the original Leblanc mp, or a Vandoren B40, B44 =
or B45. Maybe someone on this list can give me some useful advice about =
my embouchure?

One more question:

As I said before, Paolo gave me the fingerings he uses on his claribass =
(Selmer) for the multiphonics. Up till now I could not reproduce them, =
but on my soprano clarinet with one of these fingerings I produced today =
a multiphonic, but not the one that correspondes to the intended one in =
Campogrande's piece. Can it be that on different instruments the =
fingerings for the same multiphonics are diferent, or is it a matter of =
me producing the wrong partials or whatever?

Greetings to all

Rien
