I was always the peacemaker in the band. Neither side would trust each
other, but both sides trusted me. With so many great players, I was
surprised I was the only one who doubled. Besides, I've found the balance is
this, in marching, the more brass the better, never enough. In a concert
setting, the opposite is true. At least that's what Mr. Anderson, my
university band director, always says...
