it wasn't a non-sequitor, per se. in that case, i'll ammend my previous
comments to say... who cares?
i don't support what happened on 9/11. i live and work in manhattan and
was deeply affected by the attacks. however, i'm not so ignorant and
blind to history as to think that no one has a (legitimate) grievance
against the united states. not to mention the fact that the us originally
supported bin laden and helped him set up his camps to train people to
help the us fight the soviet invasion of afghanistan. and then, after
fomenting the rise of islamic fundamentalism in the middle east, we turned
out backs and let their anti-american agenda dominate saudi arabian and
pakistani schooling and political life. all while providing more and more
money to them to plot their attacks, as long as they kept their oil
flowing cheaply into our SUV's.
