Yeah, I thought your first response was a little harsh on that...no
worries, though.

I was just thinking that there might be a massive drop-off at some point
where you can no longer effectively add technical ability.

I've been reading my Klose book and listening to concertos like a good
clarinet student :-). Playing bass clarinet in a primarily music-major
ensemble (UNC Charlotte) has done wonders for my bass clarinet
playing--which also pays dividends towards the Bb. It will be fall or
later until I can afford proper clarinet lessons again, so I'm trying to
continue my work on my own until that point, and asking questions when I
need too.

Oh. Didn't read this before responding to the last.

In which case, play and listen to music, and demanding music, as much as
possible. Use the technical studies to support what you need to do to
play the music.
