Subj: [kl] How Military Bands Work

This is how the military bands work:

Musicians who play instruments (band personnel) are
all enlisted. Regular field bands have enlisted
musicians arriving at the ranks of a minimum of E-3.
Promotion works the same as the regular enlisted
service. The D.C. special bands and Air Force
Colorado band have enlisted musicians come in at the
rank of E-6. Promotion is based on selection from the
commander.

Officers are ONLY commanders and conductors. Their
job is to conduct, be the musical/military duty
director, and administratively call the shots for the
band. Their is NO officer playing group or separate
officer only band.

I hope this has helped clear up some confusion about
military band work.
