The issue is how did rubato fit with Mozart practice when Mozart played
Mozart? And boy o boy did he use it. In fact, he describes the
technique he employs very clearly. He says (paraphrase), "Most players,
when they do rubato do it with both hands. Not me. In my case the left
hand keeps a steady tempo and the right hand does the rubato."
