The problem, whoever you are that did not have the maturity to sign his
e-mail, is that the original comment was on a thread about tone production,
not reeds. If some grad-assistant at the State University of New Mexico is
highly sensitive about his REEDS then he can e-mail me personally, rather
than starting a childish spat on an e-mail list and wasting everyone's time
and bandwidth. If I say that 90% of the reeds in commercial boxes are crap,
that has nothing to do with my opinion of someone who uses them (which would
include most of the best clarinetists in the world and a whole lot of US on
this list), and responding defensively to such a comment is entirely uncalled
for, especially when misinformation is ASSUMED. I am sick of checking my
email and having 15 petulant messages about REEDS all because some guy was
insulted that I have different methods than he does. I have much more
important things to do, like practicing. End of story.
