Another good alternative is the Valentino pad. I have them all over my personal clarinets now. They seal tight and seem to last forever. Since they are made from a synthetic material, water in the tone hole does not affect the pad in any way.

I am also pleased with effect on the tone quality. Less muffled than a skin/felt pad, but not bright either.

Valentino has a "synthetic cork" pad available now, as well. I haven't tried them yet, but I would bet we will see them on a lot of clarinets in the future.
