I have heard ot this problem with some of the newest Yamaha clarinets.
One repair man I know solved the problem by puncturing each pad in the centre
with a needle and putting a drop of super glue on the 'wound'. But it sounds
like a job for an expert repair person.
Eddie Ashton of Manchester [England] has repadded some new instruments with
this problem using a pad which he has invented and it is producing super
results. It is well worth the cost of having the instrument completely
repadded, but from your post Manchester England may not be very convenient
for you. I know Eddie is prepared to repair instruments from USA etc but is
reluctant to do the 'cosmetic improvements' sometimes required.
