Yes, me too. And fell in love with it.

Just thinking about the beginning -- I found the violin much more
personal-sounding. The flute has this magical, other-worldly quality
there that I miss very much in almost all performances on the violin
that I've ever heard.

But that may be just because most violinists aren't trying for that. I
think what you said about the clarinet/oboe problem was very good.
