Our music began with the flamboyant juxtaposition of a D major chord and
a solitary C. However my "lone, exposed C note" isn't working for me.
[so please send me $1,000 instead!]

I've replaced my opening C note with a C major chord, in the form of
three 1/16 notes. It seems to work with the support of a full chord.

Given what little I know about music theory, the concept of opening a
composition with a I - II juxtaposition which includes an accidental
seems wrong; but when I listen to it, it works.

I'll listen with interest to any comment about this from my co-composer
or from the assembled audience.

========================

My measure 2 and my beginning of measure 3 are below, but........

When I play either part alone, each of them sounds good to me. When I
play them together, they don't mesh 'intimately', if I can use this
word.

My personal schedule is crowded for the next 2-3 days, and I won't have
time until this weekend to sit down and think about how I can change my
part to mesh better with yours. I'm posting what I've written so far
in order that you, if you wish, can think about this also. It seems to
me that each of us is drifting in a different direction, and I need to
identify the cause. I seem to hear a flatted drone in the background
--- that's the best description that I can come up with right now.

===========

Measure 1:

C/16 (one leger line below treble staff) E/16 (up)
G/16 (up) F#/16 (down)
A/16 (up) G/16 (down) B/16 (up) C/16 (up)
D/4 (up) E/4 (up)

Measure 2:

D/4 (4th line treble staff) A/4 (down)
F#/16 (down) G/16 (up) B (up) C (up)
D/4

Measure 3:

G/2 (2nd line treble staff) [this is a half-note because you
'temporarily' put a half-note on your beat ....]

So I'm sharing the pen with you right now, Neil. If you want to move
on or to revise, please feel free to do so. I hope to do one or the
other thing myself this weekend.

Cheers,
Bill <who fervently hopes that he has posted one message without a
critical typo>
