Well, does it?

Some further questions:

(1) What is it that's different about Prokofiev's Flute sonata when it's
played on the violin? Does it 'work' better, or not as well? Or both?

(2a) What did Schumann mean by his reply to the publisher?

(2b) If you understand what he meant, and play it against his wishes,
can you imagine being able to convince him at least to let *you* play
it?

(3) Did the 'original' publisher go ahead and publish the arrangement?
(I don't know the answer to this question.)

(4) What about the 'modern' publisher -- is it OK for them to publish
the clarinet part and leave the decision as to whether or not to play it
up to you?

(5) Would playing it on a C clarinet make it easier to answer (2b) in
the affirmative?
