A good businessman in the job world is valuable, a good Clarinetist is
one of thousands looking for a job. Too many Universities take
students for the money and not for the reality of getting placed in an
employment situation. If you made 1st chair in your State for 2 or
more years then maybe you have a chance at Clarinet performance, but
if not, then it is a big numbers game with the odds decidedly against
you. (even for the 1st chair state it is basically the same, but it is
less of an impossibility).

If you become a good businessman you can afford to play your clarinet
all
you want, and the playing is great for stress relief!
