Dear All,

I suppose this question is really directed to Tony Pay, but if anybody else
has any experiences or opinions they would like to share, I would love to
hear them.

I am currently involved in preparing an Honours thesis on Beethoven's
writing for the clarinet in his symphonies, with particular reference to how
this influenced the development of the instrument, if at all. I am
particularly interested in hearing from anyone who has played the symphonies
on period instruments, and what instruments they used for this and why.
