We seem to have so much support for sampling. If you were asked by a
recording engineer for a sample of your sound, for him to invest it in his
sound module memory bank, and for him to draw on at any time, how much money
would you want? A couple of dollars, or ten thousand? Maybe you would even
contemplate supplying it free. Ask the same engineer if you could have his
studio facilities for 3 sessions for a couple of dollars, and listen to his
reply.
I ask why do we in the modern world then, bother to learn to play a musical
instrument at all? To quote an old fashioned word within my "beliefs" in
this indictment of, amongst others, musicians, and their complacency, THE
MAJORITY HARDLY KNOW WHAT "REAL" MUSIC IS ANY MORE, ONLY " REEL" MUSIC!
And it will get worse - mark my words - unless the musicians and
educationalists themselves take their responsibilities very seriously, to
show the world (especially the young) that real music has an immense value
to the worth/acquisition of a well balanced mind, whereas "music (sic) to
earn a quick buck", or even the computerised and devoid of intellect and
emotion kind of product, will as often as not, corrupt. To what degree of
course may have to wait for another age and discussion - I am but voicing
concern. It is for others more capable and trained than me, to think a
little more seriously about these highly controversial influences - sooner
than later.
Best,
Tony W.
