Tony,

Then, of course, people like Oliver Seely, who has worked for many hours creating MIDI files of works so that he and the rest of the world can play along, should also be "chastised", right? I mean, he uses the electronic form of every instrument except clarinet so we can have accompaniment when we don't have all the people we need to perform the music. Those of us who have recorded the 2nd parts to clarinet duets and put them into our computers so we can have "practice buddies" should just not use our computers, right? Or we should suffer along with a clarinet sound that resembles an accordion, right?

Please point me to all those techies that understand music and musical sounds, too, while you're at it. There are a few I've found, but not many.

And perhaps Chip Davis and the rest of Mannheim Steamroller should just do away with hiring live musicians and go completely electronic when they're on tour. After all, they're "impure" by your standards ....

No new music with tape, either ... after all, a live person can be employed to make the requisite sounds.

Wait - we don't need any piano reductions! That's cheating. We can just hire an orchestra.

Mark C.
