Yes, emergency is correct! One time I was playing bass clarinet in a
concert, and the pad covering the thumb F fell right off, and right
before the piece in which I had several solos! I had to fish around on
the floor to find it, jam it in there, and just hope that gravity would
do it's trick. It worked out allright, but scary in the meantime.
