I have an three very similar English instruments, a 5-key (square keys),
an 8-key (round keys as in the photo) and another out on loan that I
seem to remember has 9 keys.

None of these instruments has a barrel at all, and I assert further that
neither does the one in the photograph.

Now, what can I possibly mean by that?-)

(Hush, Walter!)
