I had previously posted a letter about intonation, but now I'm trying to
narrow the scope. From the replies I have received, it appears that the
intonation problem is not just the clarinet. Before I try the other avenues
suggested, can I have a few opinions about the intonation of the Selmer
series 10 clarinet? I have always assumed that it was the instrument that
was at fault. Another player of the same instrument related that his
instrument plays flat in the altissimo range. Mine plays increasingly sharp
from G to about E and then starts to play flat at about F# and on. I
thought that ALL clarinets likely had intonation problems that were similar
and that the "better" the instrument, the more "in tune" it would play??????

Thanks again,
Nanci
