How about Wagner or Tchaikowsky for questionable lives, sordid and
otherwise. I am a long ways from being a musicologist or historian but I've
learned that there are a lot of composers and musicians whose non-music
lives had certain "sordid aspects", as you so delicately put it.

I must confess that all this Brahms took me by surprise. The new sordid
aspect of this composer.
I wonder had known this long ago whether I would have enjoyed playing his
symhonies.
