When I purchased a tape recorder for the purpose of listening to myself,
I was unprepared for how much difference there is between good and bad
recording equipment!

"Buzzy" was the _major_ fault of the equipment that I bought the first
time around.

I don't know if sounding out of tune (as opposed to sounding "buzzy")
can be blamed on the recording equipment, but before you get too down on
yourself, you may want to ask someone who knows whether you're the
victim of a bad recording setup.

Several people on this List are recording engineers. Perhaps one of
them can give you a better perspective on this.
