To my mind the best recording of the Quintet was Georgina Dobree's
with the Amici Quartet in 1976. This LP has now been deleted.
It was also recorded by Ramon Kireilis on Spectrum SR-127 in 1980.
I wish to praise the work of Harold Wright but warn potential purchasers
of the Koch CD 3-7056 (1992) that the room acoustics of the
Quintet recording are not entirely admirable.

The story of Stanford and Coleridge Taylor appears in the lecture
by Oscar Street on "The Clarinet and its Music" on 18 April 1916
given to the Royal Musical Association (Vol 42/p108 of the Proceedings),
and Cobbett Cyclopedic Survey of Chamber Music (1929) Vol2/p489-490
in a note by Thomas Dunhill. Sadly Dunhill misreported the publisher as
Chester, whereas it was Breitkopf as already stated.
