Dear Wayne,

My heart goes out to you. To suffer the loss of a beloved vehicle of
expression is indeed a personal tragedy.

I'm sure you've done hours of research in hope of learning of ways to
reverse your condition. It appears there is little hope of reversal, but...

However, the stories of people who have compensated for the loss of
dexterity and control in one hand seem numerous. Virtually all of these case
histories deal with "switching sides," giving the job requiring digital
dexterity to the "good" hand. Of course, string players and guitarists make
up the bulk of this group.

How about digging in on a "one-handed" instrument such as a member of the
brass family? How about voice lessons?

At any rate, yes, my prayers are with you, Wayne. And they will center
around you recovering psychologically, and dedicating your life to
maximizing the abilities you still have. You can do it!

All the best,

Kent
