It seems to me someone just brought this up. As I recall, it had to do
with a difference in tone holes, particularly on the lower joint. They are
smaller, with some undercutting, rather than straight. Better? I guess
so, if your fingers are small and you have a hard time covering the
holes. It was just a step in that direction, later taken up more fully in
the Series 10.
