I don't think that Buffet ties a barrel to a clarinet via a serial number.
There are numbers on the newer barrels. They represent the clarinet model
the barrel was built for and the length of the barrel.
i.e. 1131 670 just above the bottom ring.....
The 1131 tells us that the barrel is for the R-13 Bb clarinet and the 670
indicates that the barrel is 67mm long.
My Festival barrels all look like: FES B 660 (or A as the case may be)
