I just bought a pairof Bb/A Buffet clarinets full boehm (the Bb has low
Eb),manufactured 1963.(according to the web site)The serial numbers have an
F in front of the number. The Bb had a couple of cracks which were
repaired.Play very well. The Bb has a less edgy sound (can I use this
terminology ) than my R13 using a Vandoren B45 with V12 #3 reed & Francois
Louis ligature. The throat Bb is better also on the Bb.Both barrels have no
numbers on them at all.(the longer one works best on the Bb,the shorter on
the A).The barrels seem interchangeable with my R13. I paid $2000 Australian
(about $US 1,000 ) for the pair.Just like my R13 from 1972 it does not have
any model number on it.
Can anybody tell me if the clarinets are R13s or did Buffet make another
line of clarinets at that time with similar bore to the R13.I can't seem to
access the model number from the web site when you plug in the serial
number.
