To add to what Bill said - IMO it's probably a good idea to wait for a
little while (& save up some money;-) before getting a good *pair* (Bb and
A) of wooden clarinets, rather than going for a wooden clarinet right now.
That way you won't end up in the situation that a friend of mine did, where
she had a very nice Bb clarinet but was always in trouble in orchestra when
we had parts for clarinet in A! Ah well, I guess the transposing practise
was good for her. :P
