I remember really confusing one friend with a piece I had written that
started with a quartertone effect - upper register B flat quartertone sharp,
then quartertone flat, then B flat itself. Because he had perfect pitch,
his immediate thought on hearing the first note was "That's wrong!" Then he
heard the second note, a semitone below, and started thinking that *he* was
wrong. And by the time I came to the third note, he just didn't know what
to think. :P
