I have hesitated to take part in the discussion on Stockholm, because I have
been ill, and to get involved in helping people in Stockholm could
eventually be impossible for me, even if I want to. But here goes.

Nybrokajen 11 was formerly owned by the Royal Swedish Academy of Music and
is almost opposite to the Royal Palace. I would not say that it is within
walking distance to the Royal University College of Music. At least not so
much within walking distance that you can rush between the two locations in
order to listen to different performers. However Stockholm has a good public
system of transportation which would take people between the two places
within reasonable time.

When it comes to renting a car. Stockholm as an old city mainly is placed on
islands and has parking problems. Personally we almost never take our car
into central Stockholm if we do not have to. I would advise people to rent a
car for seeing different sites outside Stockholm. Use public transportation
for the Stockholm area.

What to see:
If the weather allows for it I would advise anyone to either take the
opportunity from the Clarinetfest to go to the Stockholm archipelago (there
is an arrangement from them in the programme), or take a boat out to the
archipelago for themselves. It is marvellous and very different from almost
any other place on earth.

Drottningholm castle where the Royal family is living in the wintertime
nowadays. Look at the original operahouse from the time of Mozart. If you go
to one of the performances please remember that most of the stage machinery
is of"of the time". It is nowadays run by Elizabeth Soederstroem the former
opera singer (nowadays retired from singing).

The Old Town is within walking distance of Nybrokajen 11 and deserves a
visit.

There are so many other places that deserves attention when you are in
Stockholm, but I would have to use up to much bandwidth to describe all. I
will however be happy to try to answer any specific questions from the list.
