Bill,

Could be misunderstanding on both parts, or
neither...LOL. Let me re-think this, since I am asking
for a description of something I can't see (your
clarinet bell.)

Is the OUTSIDE flared or egg shaped? If it is flared
like a normal bell, then it is at least similar to
what the RC Prestige instruments have. They might just
have a less pronounced egg shape inside. Also, is
there any part of the INTERIOR of the bell that is NOT
part of the egg shape, i.e. is there a part or parts
of the interior of the bell that is BELL shaped?

I am getting the impression that your bell is NOT a
regular sized bell? I do think I remember you asking
about custom cases, since your bell doesn't fit the
case you have.

The shape of the outside of the bell shouldn't make a
difference in the sound or performance of the low
notes, but the thickness of the wall of the bell, and
interior of the bell WOULD make a difference. A LARGE
sphere or egg inside the bell seems like it would do
odd things to the harmonics though.

Any pics you can send Bill?
