While I'm talking of such things, for the last 4 years, someone's remark
about another (allegedly) 'off-the-wall' idea has been nagging at me:

I once posted that I would like to play a clarinet + Scottish harp duet,
and someone on the List replied forcefully that harp + clarinet would
sound awful.

It happened that today I was listening to Emma Johnson "Encores" CD.
Lo and behold, she plays some substantial pieces as clarinet + harp
duets. And it _does_ sound beautiful. The harp isn't Scottish. (I
don't know the correct name for a full-sized orchestral harp.) But I
remain convinced that Scottish harp + clarinet would be a great
pleasure. Someday.....

Cheers,
Bill

If I had Stadler's mouthpiece, would I play better? Or do I need his
ligature also? Or perhaps he and I are different persons? If I had
Mozart's pen, would I compose better?
