Thanks Bill -- Like wooden clarinets there are good ones and bad ones.
I have found that the good metal ones play just as well as the good
wooden ones.

Are you aware that the first clarinetist in the Boston symphony in the
20s used a metal clarinet? I only admit that their appearance is, to my
eyes, not very elegant but what do I know about that? It's only
opinion.
