increases the contact area of reed with the rails. Number two reduces the
contact area and limits it to four spots at the ends of the ligature.

I wonder whether the effects of these different approaches to fixing the
reed to the mouthpiece might not vary greatly, depending on whether or not
the table is flat or concave. Has anyone noticed different effects?

Please, no "bright" versus "dark" debates.
