Mr Nibbelin was just giving us his personal opinion. I refrain from
doing that, and telling you what I play on at the moment, because IMO
that information isn't interesting.

We had someone here once who said, "what a lot of students are lacking
is a good ligature".

...because that's not true.

Of course, the ligature all those student were lacking (how did he know,
I wonder?) turned out to be the very one he wanted to market.

I still maintain that anyone with an understanding of what they're doing
-- or even anyone with any sense of proportion -- treats experimenting
with that sort of equipment as just part and parcel of the constant
experimenting that all playing is in any case. Yesterday's 'solution to
all my problems' is just 'part of everything' today, and might well be
on tomorrow's scrapheap.

Some wonderful players don't bother with the equipment side of
experimentation at all, and just stick with what they found to work for
them in the first place.
