If a person needs proof that ligatures make a difference:
For the first 2-3 years, I liked fabric ligatures best, and I ended up
with the Eddie Daniels. But my new bell emphasizes the lower partials,
and combined with the fabric ligature, the result was overpowering. I
experimented with a couple of metal ligatures, and I ended up with.....
The generic 'nickel-and-dime-store' ligature that came with my first
plastic student clarinet. It probably cost all of $4.95, but now I
wouldn't trade it for love or money.
Go figure!

If I had Stadler's mouthpiece, would I play better? Or do I need his
ligature also? Or perhaps he and I are different persons? If I had
Mozart's pen, would I compose better?
