Mark Charette says:

<<And if you look further (at the mail server that sent it) you'll find that neither party sent the message.>>

Concerning a message from: James Lytthans, who said:

<<I've been getting e-mail several times a week infected with the "Klez" virus. On the last one, from clarinetgrammy@-----.com, the return path
was info@-----.com>>

Walter says:

Apparently someone who knows us pretty well is really trying to "scam" us into opening virus infected attachments.

A few weeks ago I received an email from the Zinner company. Since I have e-mailed back and forth with tem several times in the past, I thought nothing about opening the e-mail.

There was a short message advising me to open the enclosed attachment, which perportedly announced "New Products".

Something seemed very strange about this. I opened it in a manner that any virus would not be a problem. (Please don't comment on this, I knew exactly what I was doing, and no, I won't divulge my method).

Of course, the attachment had a virus. I don't know if it was the "klez" virus. But I did isolate and destroy it, and then informed the Zinner company that someone was masquerading behind there e-mail address. Now it appears that other "vendors" to the clarinet world are being used in a similar manner.

I think that this activity is stupid, cruel, and immature, if not downright criminal.

Please, everybody, be careful, especially with any unrequested attachments, and keep your virus software up to date.
