Subj: Re: [kl] tuning, which side of the barrel?

Dear list.

Thanks for your reactions to my question on any preferrence to which =
side of the barrel to use for tuning! I get the
impression that soundwise there maybe is no big difference between using =
either side. A matter of experimenting. Some
questions to the tuning rings remain with me: 1) while keeping the =
amount of pull out the same, does insertion of a
tuning ring influence the tuning? and 2) I suppose you need a whole =
bunch of tuning rings with a slowly (0.1 mm or so)
increasing thickness to adjust tuning as I can imagine that a loose =
tuning ring - e.g. as a result of further pulling
out - could start to vibrate, worsening the problems? 3) Or is a =
slightly thin tuning ring used and is it 'glued' to the
inside of the wider tenon bore leaving a small(er) gap?
